When commercial waste is mixed with domestic waste it tends to saturate collection circuits. Therefore, selective collection of commercial waste through different circuits should contribute substantially to eliminating that saturation and improving the management and outcomes of selective municipal waste collection.
Door-to-door collection of commercial waste consists of leaving waste for the municipal collection service outside each business on a given day and at a given time, as set for each fraction.
Given the great variety of commercial activities the door-to-door collection service has to adapt to different needs (timetables, frequencies, etc…) and provide specific services for some fractions.
Door-to-door collection enables the introduction of a fiscal structure that takes into account the individual services provided for each business, so that service charges are fairer. These charging systems are called pay as you throw and include different modes of application (payment per bag, per sticker, per container and other systems such as weighing or volumetric control). |
