Glass was the first material to be collected selectively. It is a non-compactable waste and once collected its density varies in a range from 180 to 480 kg/m3 according to type. Currently, all glass collected is handed over to recycling firms in accordance with the agreement with the Ecovidrio integrated system.
Selective collection can be developed following different models of collection. The collection of flat glass is undertaken through different channels from packaging glass. For this type of glasses it selective collection is carried out by the collection centres, which are responsible for its management. |
