Paper and especially cardboard are waste with a considerable volume and of variable density:
- Paper: between 40 and 130 kg/m3 and an average value of 90 kg/m3
- Cardboard: between 40 and 80 kg/m3 and an average value of 50 kg/m3
Cardboard, which is mostly generated by shops (commercial waste), is a bulky waste, which should be flattened and preferable tied to make selective collection easier.
Paper/cardboard is a fraction that can be compacted with no restrictions during selective collection, unlike glass (due to its density) and light packaging (that go to sorting plants).
Part of the paper and card collected selectively is packaging and therefore is managed according to the agreement with the Ecoembes integrated system.
Thus, selective collection is subject to these conditions and those required by the model of collection. |
