Aware of the need to inform and
educate the citizens on environmental matters, the Agència
de Residus de Catalunya of the Department of the Environment and
Housing gives loal authorities an element that complements the campaigns
to encourage selective waste collection throughout Catalonia: a
giant inflatable.
With this proposal, the
Agència de Residus de Catalunya gives everyone a tool which
helps to communicate the basic concepts of selective waste collection
in an amusing manner and enhances the participation of the population.
This large element is an optimal resource for installing in crowded
places to take advantage of festivals, local celebrations, fairs,
etc.
The selective waste collection inflatable is therefore
a great playing area that works as a leisure and educational resource,
using the complementary pedagogical material. |

Objectives |
|
| |
- To provide an element that is highly attractive both for
children and adults and works as an advertisement for the acts
among which it is set.
- To encourage citizen participation in the selective collection
of household waste, influencing young people directly and also
adults indirectly, on the basis of fun.
- To provide a playful and festive yet educational resource
to municipalities that wish to use it.
- To inform children how waste is separated at source.
- To reinforce the way to achieve the landmarks established
in the new management model.

Didactic activity |

Description
The didactic proposal consists of making a group of youngsters play
with the inflatable by placing cushions (with drawings of waste)
in the place that would correspond (selective waste collection containers
or tip points) to give the most suitable treatment. This activity
is intended to amuse and educate youngsters from 3 to 12.
Objectives
- to raise awareness and promote the reduction
of the waste we produce.
- to work on the different types of materials that
make up waste.
- to know the town's selective waste collection
system.
Methodology
- A monitor involves children in an explanation
of the 3Rs; Reduction, Recycling, Reuse; good personal practice
and selective collection.
- The activity then continues on the inflatable
containers into which the children must put each waste type,
drawn on an inflatable cushion, in the right container while
playing and bouncing.

- L’inflable per reciclar saltant”
és un element de grans dimensions (pentàgon que
avarca un àrea 10x14 m de base i 3 m d’alçada)
format per un gran espai de joc, simbolitzant els diferents
contenidors de recollida selectiva: tres dels vèrtexs
simulen el contenidor de paper, de vidre i d’envasos,
de forma rodona, al centre hi ha representat el contenidor de
matèria orgànica, de forma quadrada, al quart
vèrtex es representa la deixalleria , i al cinquè
es representa la nova incorporació del contenidor per
a la fracció resta, de forma rectangular.
- Complementary material: waste in the form of
a cushion for the educational activity.
- Target group: children from 3 to 12.
- Duration: approx. 15-30 minutes per session.
- Number of participants per session: 12-14 during
the guided activity and 25 when it is used as a leisure area.

Assemble requirements |

The following are needed to assemble
the inflatable:
- One responsible, traceable during all the stay
- Four o five people from the brigade or de la brigada or volunteers
for the assembly and disassembly.
- Minimum space of 10x14 m of basis and 3 m of
height.
- The approximate weight is from 400 Kg
- Fences to define the play area.
- Socket under 50 m. away with a minimum power
of 2,000 W.
- Good accessibility by car, flat land and preferably
sand-free
