In 2004, the new agreements were signed between
the Agència de Residus de Catalunya (ARC) and
the integrated waste and packaging waste management
system management companies: Ecoembalajes España
S. A. (EEE) and Ecovidrio (EV). These agreements provide
for a series of actions to promote the prevention
and the reduction of the impact of packaging on the
environment and the management of packaging waste
throughout its full life cycle.
Within the framework of these agreements a Follow-Up
Commission has been set up. This consists of different
representatives and its aim, among others, is to define
and approve the criteria and the communication campaigns
to be carried out within these agreements.
To develop these criteria and actions, the Follow-Up
Commission has created a specific work group formed
by different representative entities (ARC, the Federació
de Municipis de Catalunya, the Associació de
Municipis de Catalunya, the Entitat Metropolitana
de Serveis Hidràulics i Tractament de Residus,
EEE and EV) to work together in the coordination of
the communication campaigns to encourage selective
waste collection. |
