There are basically two types of systems: the non-intensive systems (open or heap) and intensive systems (closed or forced).
Non-intensive systems work with open heaps that are regularly turned over to air them and achieve the right amount of oxygen. The process conditions have to be controlled to maintain the right amounts of humidity, temperature and oxygen.
The intensive systems can work in a warehouse or use reactors such as tunnels, containers, boxes, digesters, silos, etc.
The advantage of these systems is that the process is entirely controllable and therefore enables minimal production of bad smells, needs less space and optimises this space, as they shorten the compositing time. |
