| A. |
Introduction: |
 |
| |
Identification of the problems.
Report of visit and visual examination.
Basic information about the characteristics
of the physical environment of the site and
its environment (it must be possible to state
whether emergency actions are required).
|
 |
| B. |
Detailed historical Investigation::
|
 |
| |
Historical background of the site (activities,
accidents, etc.).
Location plans of historical and current
activities.
Historical data and records of dangerous
substances that have been used. These data must
supply the criteria for defining the preliminary
sampling and analysis plan.
|
 |
| C. |
Detailed Investigation of the
physical environment: |
 |
| |
Geological description making it possible
to define the physical support where the pollution
is located.
Hydrogeological description: identification
of aquifers, hydrogeological parameters, flow
direction, inventory of water points of the
environment (surface and underground) and map
of isopiezes. The data must allow a first approximation
to the hydrogeological environment.
|
 |
| D. |
Confirmatory sampling of soils,
residues and/or waters: |
 |
| |
Description of field work carried out:
indirect detection methodologies (geophysical,
studies of soil, gases etc.), direct sampling.
Justification of the parameters analysed,
and also of the sampling methodology, location
and depth of the sampling points so as to guarantee
their representativeness.
Description of the procedures for sampling,
conservation of samples and analysis methods
in order to ensure the reliability of the results
obtained.
Presentation of the analytical results in
table form.
Graphic representation of the field work
and results: plans showing the location of the
points sampled, lithological columns, maps of
isoconcentrations, pressure measurements (piezometry)
etc.
Appendix with the laboratory analysis bulletins.
|
 |
| E. |
Interpretation of results: |
 |
| |
Presentation of the analytical results
in tables for ease of interpretation and comparison
with the criteria set by law.
|
 |
| F. |
Conclusions |
 |
| |
Evaluation of the results, conclusions
and, if appropriate, proposal for actions.
