APPRICOD: Assessing the Potential of Plastic Recycling in
the Construction and Demolition Activities, LIFE 03/ENV/B/00019
The Agència de Residus de Catalunya, in conjunction
with the regions of Brussels (Belgium), Porto (Portugal) and the
Province of Ancona (Italy), is participating in the European project
LIFE APPRICOD, Assessing the Potential of Plastic Recycling in
the Construction and Demolition Activities, which is co-financed
by the European Union.
The objectives of this project are to optimise the
selective collection of plastic generated in construction and
demolition, to disseminate examples of good recycling practices
on a European level and to estimate the costs associated with
selected collection.
The duration of the project is 30 months (November
2003 to May 2006). The actions to be undertaken during this time
are:
- diagnosis of the current situation with regard
to plastic waste management in construction and demolition;
- define selective collection plans;
- put the defined plans into action in 20 locations
in the different regions that are participating in the project;
- draw up the project conclusions and disseminate
the results obtained in the form of a list of good practices,
a website and workshops.
The main beneficiary is the Institut Bruxellois
pour la Gestion de l’Environnement (IBGE), which is the
entity responsible for coordinating the twelve members of the
project:
