Photo demolition and construction waste

Construction activity causes a great deal of waste. When performing the work previous to starting a new site, normally it is necessary to demolish a pre-existing construction and certain soil movements are needed. Furthermore, during the work a large amount of waste is produced in the form of surpluses and various remains. Alteration and refurbishment work also generates a large amount of waste.

Today, Catalonia produces in the order of 6,000,000 tons/year of demolition and construction waste.

Until very recently, the waste was eliminated in an uncontrolled manner around the territory. Today, there are a series of controlled landfills, transfer stations and recycling plants for adequate management of this waste.
