Transport of WEEE
Decree 93/1999, of 6th April, on waste management procedures, governs, among other items, authorisation of haulage contractors of waste and the control of waste management performed in Catalonia.
Administrative authorisation for the transport of waste

Administrative authorisation is not required for the transport of waste in amounts under those established in Appendix I of Decree 93/1999, of 6th April, on waste management procedures, except in the case of itinerant waste collection.

In the event that authorised transport must be used, the vehicle must have a Agència de Residus de Catalunya license for the transport of one or more of the following groups of waste:

Group 2 Other solid waste not included in other groups For WEEE classified as non-hazardous waste
Group 15 Waste with PCBs and PCTs For WEEE classified as hazardous waste (even for waste not included in any of these waste types and thus with hazardous status)
  Group 22 Refrigerators
Group 23 Fluorescent lamps and mercury vapour lamps

Documentation required for the transport of WEEE depends on:

  • WEEE codification
  • The amount that is transported in a single journey.
  • The origin of the waste collected (individual or itinerant)

  Transport of dangerous goods

The transportation of some goods involves the highest risk type due to their special characteristics. Very strict specific rules must therefore be followed to transport them.

The international transport of dangerous goods is regulated in the ADR Agreement, while the national transport of dangerous goods in Spain is governed by the TPC (TDG) regulation and the authorised transport for dangerous goods is known as TPC-ADR (TDG-ADR) transport.

In Spain, monitoring of the ADR Agreement is performed by the Commission for the Co-ordination of the Transport of Dangerous Goods, attached to the Directorate General of Road Transport of the Ministry of Public Works, and since 1th January 2005, the version that must be adhered to for transport of this kind is the ADR 2005.
