Published in conjunction with the Department of the Environment (Junta de Residus (now the Agència de Residus de Catalunya)) and the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.

The manual has been prepared to improve the use of liquid manures and to facilitate their reuse in agriculture.

Therefore, the manual will give a series of guidelines concerning the reduction at origin (in quantity and content in different elements), possible treatments applicable to liquid manures, the requirements of the storage system, the methodology for the calculation of the agronomic dose (bearing in mind the needs of crops and the soil characteristics) of liquid manure to be applied to the soil, and finally on the economic value of the liquid manures as fertilisers.
